Don’tStopMeNow/Queen

Western (rock) music

Song overview

‘Don’t Stop Me Now’ is a song by British rock band Queen, released in 1978. It was written by Freddie Mercury and is the 12th track on their seventh original album, Jazz.

It is mainly composed of Mercury’s piano playing, with backing tracks by John Deacon’s bass and Roger Taylor’s drums, and includes Queen’s signature harmony vocals [2]. On the other hand, there is no guitar part by Brian May until the guitar solo, and even then only a few notes can be heard.

It was cut as a single in 1979 and reached a high of number 9 in the UK Singles Chart[3] and number 14 in New Zealand[4], but a low of number 86 in the US Billboard Hot 100[5]. However, it was used in various commercials, films and TV shows after its release, ranked third in Rolling Stone magazine’s 2014 readers’ poll of the 10 Greatest Queen Songs,[6] and reached a high of number one on the UK Rock & Metal Singles Chart on 5 January 2018 and[7] became one of Queen’s most popular songs.

Ease of singing karaoke (5 levels)

★★★☆☆

Because of the up-tempo and fast singing, it is quite difficult to sing unless you have heard the original song.

The key is slightly higher, and there is a part in the introductory part where the voice of the singer is heard for a moment.

Degree of excitement(5 levels)

★★★★★

It is one of Queen’s most popular and well-known songs in Japan.

It has a good groove and is quite lively.

There are harmony parts, such as the chorus, and it’s a lot of fun when someone helps out.

The climax of the song is Brian May’s guitar solo, which is ironic from a karaoke point of view, but he breaks through it with an air guitar performance.

Degree of comfort in singing(5 levels)

★★★★☆

Although it is a difficult song, there is quite a sense of achievement when you finish singing it.

You’ll be pretty exhausted.
