Song overview

This song was written by keyboardist Jonathan Kane while he was with the Babies (later Bad English) before moving to Journey. During his time with the Babies, it was opposed by vocalist John Waite and never saw the light of day.

Journey It was released as the third single from their seventh studio album, Escape.

It became a record-breaking single, Journey’s highest single to reach #2 in the U.S. on the Billboard Hot 100, #1 in the U.S. on Cashbox, Record World, and Radio & Records, and later a revival hit with a cover by Mariah Carey.
